MotoGP Australian GP 2025: Bezzecchi's Dominant Sprint Win | Full Race Highlights (2025)

A thrilling MotoGP race unfolded at the Australian Grand Prix, where Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi dominated the sprint race, breaking Ducati's winning streak.

Bezzecchi, eager to make up for a costly mistake in Indonesia, started the race with determination. He quickly moved up the grid, passing Raul Ferandez's Trackhouse Aprilia with three laps remaining. This move secured his third sprint win in four weekends, an impressive feat.

Fernandez held on to second place, with Pedro Acosta of KTM completing the podium. The race began with Alex Marquez taking the holeshot from sixth position, while pole-sitter Quartararo dropped back.

However, Marquez's lead was short-lived as Fernandez snatched the front position at Miller Corner. Marquez then dropped to third, setting up an intense battle between Aprilia teammates.

On lap six, Bezzecchi closed in on Fernandez, but an error at Turn 10 cost him precious time. Undeterred, he quickly made up for the mistake, cutting the deficit by half on the next lap. Bezzecchi's pace was relentless, and he made the decisive move on lap ten, taking the lead at Southern Loop.

Bezzecchi cruised to a 3.1-second victory, claiming his second consecutive sprint win. Fernandez also secured back-to-back sprint podiums. The final podium spot went to KTM's Pedro Acosta, who held off a late charge from local hero Jack Miller.

This race marked a significant moment as it was the first time since the introduction of the sprint format in 2023 that a Ducati failed to finish in the top three. Ducati's struggles were further highlighted by Gresini's Marquez dropping to sixth and Indonesia winner Fermin Aldeguer crashing out late in the race.

Quartararo, starting from pole, could only manage seventh, but he still beat the top factory Honda rider, Luca Marini. KTM wildcard Pol Espargaro and Tech3's Enea Bastianini completed the top ten.

Factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia had another challenging race, finishing in 19th place. His struggles were evident as he dropped down the order, with a significant pace deficit to race winner Bezzecchi.

The Australian GP sprint results saw Bezzecchi take the top spot, followed by Fernandez and Acosta. The race was a testament to the competitiveness of MotoGP, with multiple teams and riders battling for victory.
