Nathan Chen: A Figure Skating Legend's Journey to the Hall of Fame (2025)

Olympic champion Nathan Chen is set to be inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame next month, the organization announced on December 2. Chen, a three-time world champion, will be honored alongside his longtime coach, Rafael Arutunian, for their contributions to the sport. Chen's remarkable achievements include becoming the first man to land five quadruple jumps in one program and five different quads in a single program. He also holds the all-time score record in men's figure skating, with a score of 335.30 from the 2019 Grand Prix Final. Chen's Olympic success includes winning the men's singles event and helping Team USA to gold in the team event at Beijing 2022, as well as bronze at PyeongChang 2018. Despite his achievements, Chen has not made a formal retirement announcement, leaving the door open for future competitions. His plans include applying for medical school, as he told Olympics.com in an interview last year. The induction ceremony will take place in St. Louis, Missouri, during the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, where current skaters will be vying for spots in the upcoming Olympic Winter Games.
